Vitamin - Creating an Interactive Wall for a Car Company
Vitamin, a creative studio based in Spain, have merged the communication design with our technology and the result is fascinating.
The main purpose of Vitamin's project was to show the new reliable security system that Mytra (Automation Engineering company) and SIEMENS designed for SEAT's car factory in Barcelona. The idea was to show people within the sector the benefits of the system and how the data is collected and monitored.
The event was part of one of the biggest automation Faires and took place at SEAT's factory. For this event, the Vitamin Team designed an interactive wall using the Bare Conductive's Touch Board and Electric Paint. They illustrated the workings of a car factory line and animated it with projections. All of the drawings featured video mapped visuals that reacted when visitors touched them.
Below the factory line, they drew icons to represent the possible problems that the factory line may have. The different technology systems exhibited by Siemens were also incorporated into the sensors and these were connected to the Touch Board with Electric Paint.
Each drawing was connected to one of the Touch Board's electrodes, so it could turn the message into an interactive action. The Touch Board then sent the information to the computer, and the computer sent it back to the projector.
The wall was built using plywood, and a short throw projector was used for the video mapping in order to avoid big shadows when attendees were touching the wall. All of the code was written using C++ and openFrameworks library.
Visitors were encouraged to touch the icons and interaction points painted with Electric Paint, so the visual representation of the problem and solution could be triggered.
